On Friday 27 September, the streets of Almeria were filled with the European Researchers’ Night, hosting more than 100 science-related activities and over 580 researchers. The event, part of a Europe-wide initiative, was held in 400 cities in 30 countries, attracting a large public eager to interact with scientific innovations.
This year’s event, whose theme was ‘Open Researchers 2024-2025’, was dedicated to Horizon Europe’s missions and contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development goals, among others.
The University of Almeria, a key partner of the CODECS project, played a central role in the festivities. Their activity aimed to bring science closer to the public, with a special focus on engaging children through interactive games and quizzes related to sustainable agriculture and the digitalisation of farming. The event attracted hundreds of participants, both young and adult, who enthusiastically participated in the various activities.
It was a great success in making science fun and accessible, while also raising awareness about the benefits of agricultural digitalisation, and showcasing the impactful work CODECS is doing.
