On 21 March 2025, the Hungarian Living Lab of the CODECS project hosted the “Soil Beneath Your Feet” event at the Smart Farm of Széchenyi István University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary.
Bringing together students, researchers, and agricultural professionals, the event offered a unique opportunity to deepen understanding of soil science. Attendees explored key topics such as soil structure, water management, microbiology, and plant-soil interactions through expert presentations and practical demonstrations.
Spotlight on the Hungarian Living Lab
While the “Soil Beneath Your Feet” was independently organised, its strong focus on soil health and monitoring aligns closely with CODECS’ mission of promoting digitalisation and precision agriculture.
The event took place in a setting dedicated to innovative soil-scanning technologies and sustainable agricultural solutions. Dr András Vér provided a brief introduction of the Hungarian Living Lab’s mission and achievements, while Dr Viktória delivered a live demonstration of the advanced soil scanner technology currently being tested on-site.
CODECS’ role & contribution
The event was further enriched by CODECS Project’s Living Lab approach, which offers not only a practical testing environment but also a strategic framework for integrating digital tools into traditional soil analysis. By embedding the demonstration within this context, participants were introduced to the broader potential of digital innovation in soil analysis and sustainable farm management.

This event underscored the growing need for practical demonstrations and interactive learning in agricultural science and education.
