CODECS launches Digital Platform for Agricultural Innovation

Nov 16, 2023 | CODECS News

We are delighted to introduce you to the CODECS platform, a dynamic and innovative hub dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge digital tools and research outputs. At the core of its mission is the overarching goal of raising awareness and driving the adoption of technologies that align with a sustainable digital vision.

What is CODECS Digital Platform?

CODECS Digital platform presents an umbrella infrastructure, signifying its role as a cohesive and integrated framework that offers an array of services and tools within a centralised control panel. CODECS places a strong emphasis on user preferences and requirements, following a user-centric and agile approach to enhance engagement. The design is purposefully created to empower its diverse user base (AKIS actors, farmers, policymakers, and researchers), granting them the convenience of accessing and overseeing available resources through a unified, transparent and open interface.

What can you find on the Platform?

The CODECS digital platform hosts a diverse spectrum of digital technologies, arranged in a meta-inventory tailored to meet user needs. Building upon the results of previous projects – including FAIRshare, SmartAKIS and DESIRA – the meta-inventory of available digital technologies not only enhances the ability to deploy these technologies, but also facilitates the collection of agricultural data. This, in turn, strengthens policy interfaces in the realm of digitalisation and innovation.

Furthermore, the platform provides data storage and access capabilities for information collected from CODECS’s Demo Farms. The datasets that will be produced during the course of the project and included in the digital platform will play a pivotal role in promoting objective decision-making and resolving conflicts related to various aspects of digitalisation.

For its next release, the platform will feature tools that facilitate the comprehensive and multi-criteria evaluation of the costs and benefits associated with farm digitalisation, taking into account economic, environmental, and social considerations. In addition, virtual demonstration tools, interactive methodology handbooks, and engaging storybooks will be incorporated in synergy to enhance the effectiveness of the platform in promoting societal engagement and the adoption of sustainable digital principles.
