Objectives
The event is being organized in collaboration with researchers from the James Hutton Institute and Elchies farm owners.
It is an opportunity to share insights on farm technology for sales and promotion, specifically tailored to on-farm shop facilities in rural Scotland—topics that will strongly resonate with both new and aspiring farmers.
The program will feature an on-farm demonstration where Elchies Farm will share insights into the challenges and opportunities of operating a '24-hour farm shop.' Additionally, researchers from the James Hutton Institute will present an innovative virtual farm tour, providing attendees with a unique perspective on farm selling and promotion processes.
By leveraging a diverse range of digital tools, including virtual shops and farm shops connected to selling and promotion platforms, rural farmers can significantly expand their reach. These digital tools enable farmers to promote their products, activities, and brand more effectively, shorten supply chains, and boost sales. While many farmers already use digital platforms like social media, there is a strong belief that their potential could be further maximized to better address existing challenges and unlock new opportunities.
The event will take place on the 10th of October 2024 on Elchies Farm (Campbell Cairns Farm, Craigellachie, Scotland). People will be able to register for the event via email.
