The digital transformation of agriculture is gaining momentum, offering new tools and services to improve productivity, competitiveness, sustainability, and climate resilience. However, the success of digitalisation depends not only on technological innovation but also on the strength and adaptability of AKIS to face these challenges. These systems connect farmers, advisors, researchers, and service providers, shaping how knowledge is created, shared, and used in practice.

This webinar explores the role of AKIS in supporting sustainable digitalisation pathways. It will present initial findings from CODECS on the economic and organisational models of Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (KIBS) within AKIS and how they influence the uptake and contextualisation of digital technologies. Drawing on a joint survey of AKIS actors and preliminary typologies of digital service providers, the session will also invite reflections from other experts and practitioners to discuss enabling conditions for effective and inclusive digital ecosystems in agriculture.

The session aims to:

  • Share insights on how different AKIS models contribute to or constrain digital transformation in farming.
  • Discuss the role of front-office (advisory, contextualisation) and back-office (data management, evidence accumulation) functions in digital knowledge flows.
  • Gather feedback and exchange ideas to inform future policy and practice
