PIGLink aims to address challenges in data collection on pig farms by promoting interoperability between various equipment and management tools. Farms collect diverse data on animal performance, veterinary treatments, and more, but this data is often fragmented across different devices and systems, leading to confusion and redundancy for farmers. PIGLink proposes an open, standardized framework to facilitate the exchange of farm data through Web APIs, allowing smooth data flow between devices like scales, water meters, and dosing pumps, as well as management software. By creating a unified data space, PIGLink enables easier sharing and utilization of farm data, with the farmer controlling consent and data sharing. This system will improve existing dashboards and enable the creation of new ones that track key breeding indicators. Over time, benchmarking features will be added to these dashboards, helping farmers measure the impact of their actions on animal health, welfare, and farm performance.
