On the SIA "3Dpro" farm, the CODECS Living Lab tests remote sensing capabilities to identify potential in semi-natural grassland restoration and management. A remote sensing team from the Estonian University of Life Sciences is using drones to map grasslands farmers use for pastures or haymaking, with the goal of restoring meadow biodiversity. The team provides the farm with two data sets: high-resolution orthophotographic drone imagery and maps, which include a surface temperature layer, as well as a multispectral data set. The aim of the Living Lab is to involve farmers directly in the process of mapping grassland habitats, a task that has previously been carried out by research institutes or delegated to external organisations.
